Mental Health Awareness Week is happening from 9 to 15 May 2022. The official theme is ‘loneliness’ and, across the week, we encourage you to build meaningful connections with your friends, family, colleagues and communities.

Loneliness affects many of us at one time or another. We know that loneliness can be both the driver for and a product of poor mental health.

IOSH urges caution over MP’s call to remove asbestos from all non-domestic buildings

OSH has urged caution after a parliamentary committee recommended that the government set a 40-year deadline to remove asbestos from all public and commercial buildings.

The Work and Pensions Committee’s report, The Health and Safety Executive’s Approach to Asbestos Management, published on 21 April, calls on the government to commit to a strategy to remove all asbestos from public and commercial buildings by 2062 and to ramp up funding to boost enforcement activity.

SAFETY VIDEO:  Fatal Fire at packaging plant. 

The US Chemical Safety Board (CSB) has released a new safety video about a fatal incident at a paper mill almost two years ago.

On 21 September 2020 at Evergreen Packaging’s paper mill in Canton, North Carolina, a worker was using a heat gun to warm an epoxy resin inside a tank. The heat gun fell into a bucket of flammable resin and a fire erupted, killing two contractors.
