On April 6th 2015, the regulations which govern the construction industry, the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 will change significantly.
For the first time any construction work, whether it’s a new bathroom fit out or an extension will need a construction phase plan.
There are new requirements on companies working on domestic properties, meaning hundreds of small/medium sized companies will be affected. Small and medium size construction businesses will have to make a plan and manage health and safety when come into force on 6 April 2015.
In addition, The requirement for a CDM co-ordinator has gone and a new appointment of Principal Designer must be made.
Did you know the role of Principal Designer does not have to fall onto one person and can be shared amongst a group of people as an entity? This means that an organisation who has been appointed as Principal Designer can outsource aspects of the role, such as health and safety and the gathering of pre-construction information.
Safety Smart have ensured they have kept up to date with the changes and are in a position to assist from 6th April.
If you feel that this is a service you require or would like to attend one of our CDM 2015 workshops please do not hesitate to get in touch.
