Project: Developing safe systems of work for the Yorkshire manufacturing facility. Assisting with all aspects of CDM 2015
Safety Smart were appointed in March 2018 to work alongside ilke Homes in setting up its manufacturing facility in Knaresborough, Yorkshire. Our remit is to devise and implement a comprehensive Health & Safety Management system and to ensure that all policies, procedures and safe systems of work are in place.
ilke Homes is addressing the UK’s shortage of affordable housing, consistently delivering high-quality, energy-efficient, modular homes at scale to the people that need them most. Through precision manufacturing methods, the British offsite specialist plans to deliver 2,000 homes per year within the next two years from its Yorkshire factory.
With a focus on inspiring design and precision-engineering, ilke Homes builds beautiful, energy-efficient homes with real families in mind, quickly and more efficiently than traditionally-built houses. Designed to blend in with the surrounding architecture, ilke Home’s properties can be modified to both two and three storey house layouts. The homes can also be customised with both traditional and contemporary finishes and layouts, creating attractive, energy-efficient affordable properties which are fully-approved by NHBC and BOPAS. Onsite preparation works and manufacturing are undertaken simultaneously meaning an ilke Homes development can be ready in half the time of traditionally built homes.
Working with housing associations, registered providers and developers to deliver much-needed, high-quality housing in less than half the time of traditional construction, ilke Homes is helping to tackle the UK’s chronic shortage of affordable housing.
Safety Smart’s Managing Director, Anthony Tetlow comments:
As our portfolio of clients within the world of offsite construction is growing, we are delighted to be in collaboration with leading companies such as ilke Homes. It’s great to be involved in such a high quality and worthwhile scheme and offsite construction clearly has a huge part to play in addressing the housing crisis in the UK. We look forward to the challenges ahead in ensuring that the 2000 homes per year target is met
